If you’re pregnant and sick like me, or just need a quick Vitamin C boost to fend off those germs coming from all sides; this Vitamin C packed Berry Boost Smoothie does the trick. This quick and easy smoothie contains 4 different fruits known to pack a punch of Vitamin C, plus super spinach, and a dab of honey for the throat.
The gift of life is absolutely amazing! For me, being pregnant itself sucks. Yup. I said it. I don’t care for being pregnant. I love feeling the baby move and kick, yes. But when I end up getting sick because my immune system is hindered, peeing my pants from coughing so hard and having no pelvic muscles in the eighth month of pregnancy, you can bet your bottom dollar I Am Over It. Getting over a cold or the flu is pretty common sense. Rest. Liquids. Medicine… but when you’re pregnant, some things go right out the window. I’m on baby number four now. I know the routine. However, I’ve had a different doctor for every single one of my children. So, I called my Midwife the other day just to check.
Sure enough, I had been doing just about everything they said I could. She did point out, much like my husband, that I probably could stand to up the water intake and Vitamin C. While she did say that I could take something like Emergen-C to help, I knew using my NutriBullet Pro
to create an authentic Vitamin C drink would be just as good – maybe better. Thankfully, we were at Whole Foods when I had that call. So, I picked up some fresh fruit, veggies, and some Nature Nate’s Honey.
Last night ended up being awful. I slept only about 2 hours and had to go to our living room to sleep on the sectional so I could be propped up to breathe. Travis gets up at 4 o’clock every morning so I really have been trying this past week to keep my coughing suppressed as best I can. Last night, there was no stopping it. So, to the couch I went. That meant today I was grumpy. Not so much with my kids or anything but more like, “Okay. I’ve had enough now… can we be done with this cold? I have too much crap to do.” Reluctantly that started with a big glass of water. Usually, I don’t drink any. I’m weird like that. I only like my water coming from sports bottles and in general I don’t like the taste of it.
Once I had that, and recognized that I had absolutely no voice to constrain the chaos of the day, I opted to make myself a breakfast that would fuel and heal me – hopefully. Usually smoothies I can get Eli to drink too. Today I was being selfish and drank it all myself. Momma needs to feel better to take care of everyone else. When Momma falls apart, the whole house falls apart. All that to say, keep up on yourself. However, if you start to fall apart this smoothie is a great and easy pick-me-up.
